To My Beloved Haiti (A Memoir)

Days and weeks turned quickly into months. Months unraveled into a year. Lives and hearts intertwined closer day by day. As I sit here watching the multitude of people & cars & dogs filing up and down the street, to do as they must or as they desire, I can’t help

Are You Satisfied

Are You Satisfied? That is one thing we are not! We are not satisfied. We take a vacation of a lifetime– satisfying ourselves with sun, fun, and good food. But we are not even on the way home before we dread the end of the trip and begin planning another.

Growing in Unity

But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need

Learning to Thrive

I have learned that I will not change the world. Jesus will do that. I can, however, change the world for one person, so I keep stopping and loving one person at a time. Because that is my call as a Christian. Katie Davis This month has included a lot

A year including tears and heartbreak, but also joy and laughter. It has included the start of many new things. Ministry

Transition Home… Again

I just arrived home. Actually I am still waiting in the airport because of the snow! Looking back on the past five months in Haiti, and seven total months spent there this year! I have mixed emotions. It was so good in many ways and so hard in others. Part

Matura

Haiti. Midnight. Dark mango trees. Bugs chirping. Passing motorcycles. Stillness. Another needy baby– needy of constant care and attention. One who cries anytime I stop the rhythmic bouncing or sit down. Again I walk in the darkness and long for sleep and my comfortable, waiting bed. Here I am with

Hi! I’m Rachel. Through a series of God orchestrated events I ended up in Haiti, in 2017.  Through years of serving with a ministry there I came to love the country and its people. I met Nelson and we got married in 2020. It was the best decision of my life!
