Learning to Thrive

I have learned that I will not change the world. Jesus will do that. I can, however, change the world for one person, so I keep stopping and loving one person at a time. Because that is my call as a Christian.

Katie Davis

This month has included a lot of learning. Learning to thrive not just survive in this culture. I have become a student in many ways. Learning to hand wash laundry, cook and eat Haitian foods, braid hair, and sing spontaneously. Learning to build friendships, maintain relationships, the importance of being surrounded by community, and to understand the culture of Haitian Creole, not just the words. It has been hard, yet beautiful, to go beyond what has been normal all my life. I’m learning a new way of life, not better or worse, but very, very different.

God has been placing on my heart burdens and desires for the future here. I spent a lot of time dreaming and praying about next steps. I still don’t know all the details (and never do), but I do know that God has great things in store for this ministry, community, and nation!

GSA Ministry Updates

  • All the beautiful kids at Grace House are happier and healthier than ever before! Growing like weeds in stature and knowledge.
  • One of the staff members that has been with GSA the longest just left for a five-month YWAM DTS program in Texas. We are all missing him already!
  • School is going well, all students are making improvements with the added tutoring program.

Thank you for your prayers for me and all those I am in ministry with.

Hi! I’m Rachel. Through a series of God orchestrated events I ended up in Haiti, in 2017.  Through years of serving with a ministry there I came to love the country and its people. I met Nelson and we got married in 2020. It was the best decision of my life!
