Hello friends, Lord willing, I am heading to Haiti in the middle of February.
There are two main goals for this trip. First, to assist with our first Farming God’s Way training for local farmers. I am super excited about this! Second, for Nelson and I to purchase a motorcycle together, which will give us the ability to get around easier for ministry and personal purposes, plus scoring him extra jobs on the side of his full time one. Something else which excites me!
Other activities that will happen include; encouraging and supporting teachers who just began the 2021 school year, loving on the kiddos, getting an idea of the next steps for me to move to Haiti, and talking through some plans.
We all know 2020 was a crazy year, and 2021 doesn’t look hopeful for normalcy anytime soon.
The hurdles of travel last year look small compared to what’s ahead.
Many of you know, I planned to go to Haiti in January. But that had to be pushed out to mid-February. The reason for this: safety.
Haitians anticipate violence from opposition groups and commoners alike at the end of January. Even now, unpleasant roadblocks and daily kidnappings foreshadow what is planned in a few weeks and throughout the year.
Besides the violence, the CDC declared that all passengers arriving into the United States from a foreign country must present a negative COVID test. Those who fail to do so will be refused re-entry into the US.
Upon hearing this, I admit I shed a few tears. If I were traveling to another state, it wouldn’t be a problem, we have testing available everywhere, but in a place like Haiti, test availability is slim. And pricey.
As more information has become available, it seems testing sites will be set up for this purpose. Haiti does not want to lose international travel like last year. Still, it will be an extra expense and inconvenience.
Join me in prayer for my upcoming trip, also pray for the Farming God’s Way team, and for the testing sites to be figured out and set up quickly so there will be no delays in plans.
Thank You, With Joy in Him,
